Moving to Nashville: A Resource Guide

Moving to Nashville: A Resource Guide

When I was moving to Nashville nearly 16 years ago after my husband was “matched” with Vanderbilt University Medical Center — in a brand new-to-me town, with a newborn in tow and a spouse who was working long, crazy physician hours, I began my research. I sought out Moms groups, hiking groups, pre-schools, physician groups and so much more in an attempt to get my bearings. I found a few resources, but was longing for so much more.

Our move to Nashville was anything but smooth, but over the years, I’ve learned how to make it a better process for others. There were so many things I wish I had known all those years ago that would have made the process a little easier. As a result, I have started a physician relocation guide and community for physicians and their families along with seeking out Nashville and middle tennessee resources for all families moving to the area.

Whether you are a physician family or just new to Nashville, I’m sharing many of the resources I’ve used over the years. Please come back here often for updates, let me know other resources you may have and ALWAYS feel free to reach out to me for more information or simply to chat about moving, family, physician life, Nashville fun and more!

Physician Families

Medical life can be very challenging and also very lonely at times, so having a strong support system is essential. From finding friends who are home for the holidays while a spouse is working to ruminating about on-call hours or brainstorming quick date night ideas, Physician groups and communities often become like family. Here are a few to look into:

Nashville & Middle Tennessee Moms

I met many lifelong friends through small local Moms groups in Nashville. I’ve also loved learning about bloggers and writers sharing their experiences with kids in Nashville, creating meet-ups and opportunities for kids and families to thrive.
